The Quilt in the Hat is a perfect quilt pattern for beginners or for a quicker finish for more advanced quilters.  

The pattern is fat quarter and quarter yard friendly and the baby size can be made using only 4 fat quarters and some background yardage.  The Quilt in the Hat has instructions for both baby and lap sizes as well as containing a coloring page to test out color schemes and quilting designs.
